So new year means new years resolutions right? Well everyone knows they don’t follow them once week two sets in. On of the biggest resolutions that many Americans make is to lose weight or be healthy. So if you are trying to lose weight you need to know how to cut the calories the right way. If you think that skipping breakfast or just eating a salad for lunch is how to cut calories and lose weight, you are wrong big time.
When you start restricting access to food, your body freaks out. It thinks, ‘oh know! there’s no food, i must conserve all my energy and turn whatever i eat into fat.’ That’s true, by skipping lunch or eating an unbalanced meal like a salad, your body will turn whatever it can get into fat. There’s a better way to cut calories and lose weight.
The biggest thing is to eat four to five small meals a day. Calorie wise around 350 each. So what does that look like? It looks like a bowl of cereal with skim milk and half a banana. Or a piece of whole grain toast with peanut butter and a half glass of milk. Or a bowl of steel cut oatmeal or regular oatmeal and milk. Lunch can be half a tuna sandwich, small yogurt and water. Or an egg salad and an apple. The key is to keep it small and healthy. Try to get your protein, good carb and some fruit in there.
Well, what if you just want something sweet and junkie? Well you can, but try to have it before lunch time so that you have all day to burn it off. If you end up eating ice cream or chocolate cake after dinner, you will sure get some thunder thighs or a muffin top!
So by eating less and eating at the right time of day, you will be on your way to a skinnier you!

Let’s face it girls, straight, sleek, and shiny hair is in for the new year. Every celebrity or singer is strutting around with super straight hair. How do you get that look? It will take more than just a hair straightener shampoo to make your hair straight. The best tool there is is a flat iron but how do you know which flat iron to get? Here are some facts about flat iron tools.
The first thing you want to consider is whether to get a ceramic, Ionic or Tourmaline flat iron. A ceramic and Tourmaline flat iron represents the coating on the iron plates. Both of these coatings produce negative ions which will protect your hair from damage and will replenish your hair with moisture. Other flat irons will take away moisture from your hair, leaving it dry and lifeless. An Ionic flat iron is simply the same as ceramic and Tourmaline. Either of these three types of flat irons will be good for your hair.
Another thing to think about is the how hot should the flat iron be before using it. There are many temperature settings on flat irons so finding the perfect temperature can take some time and trial and error. For a general guideline, if you have normal hair you want it to read between 360-380 F. If you have coarse, thick or curly hair you want a slightly hotter temperature of 380 to 410 F. If you have damaged, bleached hair a good temperature to stick to is below 360 F. Setting the right temperature will not cause damage to your hair. It’s also best to purchase a heat protectant spray before you use your flat iron.
So ladies, have fun with your flat iron!

So life is super busy right? You get up early, shower, spend time fixing your hair just right, putting on your makeup and finding a smashing outfit for work or school. Then you spend all day at work at school, come home, go for drinks with the girls, get take out and relax by the tube. With the hustle and bustle of life, you might run into some difficulty sleeping or going to sleep. When your sleep suffers, you suffer the next day. Here are four great ways to get a better sleep.
Four Ways To Get A Better Sleep
- Always go to sleep at the same time. This can be hard when you do an all nighter at the club with your friends, but if you want to sleep better and not be a zombie the next day, find a consistent time to go to bed.
- Opt for 6 to 7 hours of sleep. Anything less than this will cause sleep deprivation. It’s also a misconception that you can “make” up lost time on the weekend.
- Stop eating two to three hours before you go to bed. Eating creates work for your body and will make it difficult to get in the sleep mode.
- Finally, don’t do anything stimulating right before you go to bed. In other words, don’t exercise before you go to bed. It’s best to do something soothing like a bath, reading a book or watching TV.
